Library brings back Shred Day

Spring cleaning just got a whole lot easier! The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) is bringing back its highly requested Community Shred Day, perfect for getting rid of old files and disposing of confidential information after tax season. On Friday, April 26, from 10 a.m.to 2p.m. the NPL Main Branch located at 450 Second St. will be equipped with an industrialstrength mobile shredding truck available for public use, free of charge. This service is available to everyone, and businesses are included.

Medical Center announces findings from health summit assessment

In the late fall of 2023, The Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Foundation conducted a second comprehensive community health needs assessment following a similar assessment in 2017. They partnered with Stratasan to collect, quantify, and interpret data from community focus groups, an online survey, and a community Summit on Health.

Lions Club recognized as ‘Model Club’ at State meet

Natchitoches Lions Club recently attended the 2024 Louisiana State Lions Club Convention held in Alexandria. The state’s official title is Multiple District 8, which includes all clubs in Louisiana. Lions from across the state gather to participate in learning sessions, to be recognized for their efforts throughout the year as well as to present donations to the numerous projects supported by Lions. Officers for the upcoming year are also selected during the weekend’s events.

Golden Jubilee at Northwestern will honor 1974 graduates

Northwestern State University will honor the Class of 1974 during the class’s Golden Jubilee celebration May 9-10. The program will include the presentation of 50-year diplomas, receptions and other events to honor the class and graduates from previous years.

Folk Festival seeking volunteers for festival scheduled in July

The 2024 Natchitoches-Northwestern State University Folk Festival is seeking volunteers to join the fun and experience the festival from within. Every year the festival relies on volunteers to help with the various components such as providing security and other positions as needed. Volunteers will work inside air-conditioned Prather Coliseum and will be needed from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday July 20.
