Baseball America (BA) named Northwestern State redshirt-freshman Nick Heath as the top prospect to play in the Hamptons Collegiate League this summer as a member of the North Fork Ospreys the magazine announced Thursday.

Heath was also named to the Perfect Game 2013 Collegiate Baseball All-America team in late August. According to the magazine, one scout called Heath “as toolsy as they get.”

The Junction City, Kan. native led the league with 34 stolen bases (in 40 attempts) and 33 walks. He hit for an average of .326, 18 runs batted in, 35 runs, seven doubles, and three triples.

Other top prospects that came out of the Hampton League are: Alex Katz (St. John’s), Justin Montemayor (Houston), T.J. Pecoraro (Vanderbilt), Max Watt (Hillsborough CC), Jacob Bodner (Xavier), Brandon Thomas (San Diego State), Charles Galiano (Fordham), Andre Jernigan (Xavier), and Jack Sundberg (Connecticut).

BA ranked the top 30 prospects for the Cape Cod League, the top 20 prospects for Team USA, the top 25 in the Northwoods League, and the top 10 prospects in 18 other summer college leagues, plus a top five in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
