The 2012 Northwestern State football team reports Wednesday to begin preseason camp, with fourth-year coach Bradley Dale Peveto convening the first practices for the Demons on Friday with fullscale scrimmages on Aug. 11, 18 and 22 in Turpin Stadium.

The Demons will begin checking in Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the NSU Athletic Fieldhouse, with a range of equipment fitting sessions, academic and NCAA compliance meetings, physical exams and testing keeping them busy until a 7:30 team meeting.

A series of meetings, newcomers orientation, conditioning tests, academic sessions and weightlifting will occupy the NSU squad Thursday into the evening.

Friday, the veteran players hit the field for practice beginning at 9:40 a.m., with newcomers slated for their first practice at 4:40. The same routine is set for Saturday, with no practice Sunday, before resuming the schedule Monday and Tuesday. The team’s first unified practice session is next Wednesday morning before Fall Sports Media Day activities that afternoon.

The Demons open their season Sept. 1 at Texas Tech, and begin their five-game home slate the following Saturday, Sept. 8 against Arkansas-Monticello in Turpin Stadium.
