Westbrook, a junior from Lufkin, Texas, hit .529 for the week last week in helping lead the Demons to a 3-1 record in four games. He hit safely in all four games – two of those with multiple hits – and had a career-best four base hits and three RBI in a 4-for-5 outing in a 9-3 win at Southern last Wednesday.
He also hit home runs in back-to-back games and had at least one RBI in all four games and multiple RBI in three of the four.
In a three-game weekend Southland Conference series against McNeese State, which the Demons took two out of three for the series win, he hit 5-for-12 with a double, two runs scored and five RBI.
LSU starting pitcher Kevin Gausman was named the state’s pitcher of the week after he fired a career-high 11 strikeouts through eight shutout innings in a 6-0 win over Michigan on Friday night.
