Alumni of Northwestern State’s baseball and softball programs will gather Oct. 18-19 during 2013 Homecoming activities for the first joint reunion involving the sports, including a slow pitch softball game involving the Demons and Lady Demons.

Registration and a complete schedule for the reunion is on the events button of the NorthwesternAlumni.com website, the official site of the Northwestern State Alumni Association. The event is being co-hosted by the NSU Alumni Association and the NSU Athletic Association, along with the current baseball and softball coaching staffs.

“Talking with alumni from both programs, it is obvious there are a lot of friendships and some marriages involving baseball and softball players from the past, so the suggestion of doing a joint reunion for the two sports seems like a great idea,” said Haley Blount, the associate director of alumni affairs. “Both programs have tremendous histories and a common bond. This will be fun and especially so during Homecoming weekend.”

Highlights include a Friday evening social downtown at “Rockin’ on the Riverbank” following the Homecoming parade at 5:30, intrasquad games for both 2014 teams Saturday morning at 10 followed by lunch, and the 1 p.m. Alumni Game at the Lady Demon Diamond. Tailgating will follow the Alumni Game leading up to the 6 p.m. football game at Turpin Stadium between NSU and Southeastern Louisiana.

A reunion fee of $25 per person, and $5 for children under 12, is needed. Registration ends Oct. 15. The fee includes food, refreshments and a football game ticket.
