The 6-1, 190 pound right-handed pitcher finished his senior season with 203 strikeouts in 98 innings on his way to being named LHSAA Class B pitcher of the year.
“Dillon was one of the first young men we zeroed in on after taking the job at NSU,” said Burroughs. “ The numbers he put up at Converse are just incredible. The sky is the limit for him.”
Crain was voted All-Louisiana three times, all-area three times, and all-district five times. During his time at Converse, he helped the Wildcats to an 83-13 record over four years.
“He has the chance to pitch a long time in this game,” said Burroughs. “ He is Northwestern State through and through and we are delighted to have him.”
At the plate, Crain hit over .400 every season at Converse including his senior season when hit over .500 for the year.
“He is a tremendous student and we are looking for big things out of Dillon Crain,” said Burroughs.
Crain becomes the eighth player signed by Burroughs and his staff in two months time.
“I’m so proud of Coach (Chris) Curry and Coach (Andy) Morgan for how hard they have worked and grinded this summer to solidify this class,” said Burroughs. “I also want to recognize academics, compliance, and sports information for all of their hard work and patience with us during this accelerated recruiting summer.
“We are so ready to get going,” said the first year skipper.
