Southland Conference Player of the Week Polina Konop will lead the Northwestern State tennis team as the Lady Demons continue Southland play at Stephen F. Austin in Friday’s 11 a.m. match at the Schlief Tennis Complex.

NSU (8-5 overall, 3-1 SLC) is currently tied for third in the conference standings with four matches remaining in the regular season. The Lady Demons, who are on a three-match winning streak, most recently defeated Sam Houston State last Friday in a battle that ended in a 4-3 decision.

SFA (8-7, 3-0) ranks second in the Southland standings and is currently on a five-match winning streak. The Ladyjacks have not competed since taking down Arkansas-Littlerock 4-3 on March 19.

Konop, a junior, has compiled a team-best singles record of 11-2 overall and is 4-0 in Southland action. The Kiev, Ukraine native is also 9-4 in doubles play with teammate Natalya Krutova.

Tatiana Larina and Andrea Nedorostova lead the Lady Demons in doubles competition with an 11-2 doubles record at the No. 1 position.

Nedorostova, a senior, has amassed an impressive 65 career doubles wins and is currently tied for second in the NSU record books. She needs just three more victories to become the winningest doubles player in Lady Demon history.

The Brno, Czech Republic native also ranks high in the NSU career-singles ledger, tying for fifth with 56 wins.

The Lady Demons return to their home court next Saturday for a one o’clock match against top-ranked Southeastern Louisiana.
