Senior captain Andrea Nedorostova, one of the most successful tennis players in Northwestern State history, will play her final home matches this weekend as the Lady Demons take on Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at one p.m. and Nicholls State on Sunday at 12 o’clock.

“You cannot ask for a better student-athlete,” said Lady Demon head coach Patric DuBois. “Andrea is the kind of athlete and person that coaches dream of coaching. She has been a joy to be around and work with and I’m sure our relationship will continue over the years.”

Nedorostova has had a standout career at NSU, compiling a 56-18 singles record and a 65-10 doubles record. She is currently tied for second in the NSU career doubles wins ledger and is just three wins away from taking over as the winningest doubles player in Lady Demon history.

Her 56 singles victories also rank high in the NSU record books, tying for fifth all-time.

The Brno, Czech Republic native has the highest doubles winning percentage of any Lady Demon to date (86.7) and the seventh-best singles winning percentage in program history (75.7).

“Andrea’s record speaks for itself,” said DuBois. “She has always worked hard and has always been a great teammate. She does what is best for the team and she has been a great leader this year. She is always the first one at practice, the last one to leave and does things on her own time to be in even better shape.”

Nedorostova earned All-Louisiana, All-Southland doubles and Academic All-Southland recognition her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons and was an All-Southland singles selection her freshmen and junior years.

The senior is as accomplished in the classroom as she has been on the court, having collected a myriad of academic honors during her time at NSU.

She has been a member of the SLC Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll every year so far and has made the NSU President’s and Dean’s list on several occasions.

Last spring, Nedorostova was the recipient of the Michael Peter Manno Endowed Leadership/Service Award in Communications, an honor that is presented annually to a communications major at NSU who demonstrates excellence in leadership and exhibits the potential to become a leader at NSU and in the field.

“Andy is a 3.9 student and has been an extraordinary student all four years,” said DuBois.

She has been accepted into the University of Texas Communications graduate program, which is a very prestigious communications program so that really says a lot about her academically.

NSU will honor Nedorostova in a Senior Day ceremony on Sunday prior to the start of the match.
