The newly bi-annual fundraiser will assist the Lady Demons in several ways, including the summer scholarship fund, the NSU volleyball media room, team travel and other projects for the program.
“We are excited to offer another Digfest Volleyball Tournament this spring,” said Lady Demon volleyball co-head coach Stephanie Hernesman. “Once again Mr. Robert at Point Place Mariana has been very gracious to let us use his venue. We have had some great feedback from the community about our tournaments in the fall and a lot of people were asking if we would do one in the spring.”
Entry is $50 per team and each team can have up to six players with four playing at a time. One female from each team must be present on the court at all times and all teams are guaranteed at least five matches over the two-day period.
Businesses can buy a courtside sponsorship for $100 or a courtside combo for $150. Both sponsorships include a courtside banner and the combo allows a business to sponsor a specific team.
Each participant will earn an award for entering the tournament and the top three teams will earn team prizes.
In order to win the lift kit, participants must buy a raffle ticket. When the winning ticket is drawn, one person will have to participate, and win, a contest in order to receive the lift kit. The contest will take place on Saturday, the first day of the event.
Participants and spectators will be provided with complimentary food and drinks and are also welcome to purchase any items offered by the Marina.
“We think this is a great opportunity for our volleyball athletes to get connected with the community and for the community to get to know our athletes,” said Hernesman. “The event is always a good fundraiser for our volleyball program.”
