Students in the Senior Colloquium Class in the Louisiana Scholars’ College at Northwestern State University recently made a donation to D.O.V.E.S. (Domestic Violence Education and Support) Inc. of Natchitoches, a non-profit organization that provides free shelter, supportive services, and education to both victims of domestic violence and the Natchitoches community. Funds were raised through a dinner and movie event.

Senior Colloquium is a two-semester course offered at the Scholars’ College in which the students select and discuss a topic representative of contemporary society. The Class of 2012 chose to focus on gender and its wide-ranging relationship to the media, workplace, sexuality, health and religion. It was taught by Dr. Shirley A. (Holly) Stave.
