The concert is a production of the St. James Episcopal Church Concert Series through a grant from the McCormick-Smith Fund. The concert is sold out. Joshua Zona will conduct the combined orchestra and choir. The program is Handel’s Messiah.
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to perform with the Rapides Symphony and Red River Chorale,” said Dr. Burt Allen, director of choral activities at Northwestern State. “It is a nice outreach opportunity for us as well as a chance for our students to get to know a number of people who are professional musicians or people for whom music is their number one avocation.”
Allen directs both the Chamber Choir and the Red River Chorale.
“The Chamber Choir performed parts two and three of Messiah three weeks ago and did extremely well,” said Allen. “This concert will be a treat for the audience.”
