Northwestern State University is digitizing graduation programs from the school’s first commencement exercises in 1887 and is seeking the public’s help in locating several year’s worth of programs that are missing.

“Through the good work of several student workers at the University Archives and the Registrar’s Office, we have an inventory of existing programs and related documents, but we have big holes in the early years,” said Tom Whitehead, project coordinator. “Our only hope seems to be folks having the programs in their family possessions.”

 Programs missing are those from the years 1887-1893, 1895-1898, 1901-1903, 1906, 1908-1910, Spring 1915, 1917-1918, 1920, 1924-29, 1931-1936 and 1944-45.

Anyone with copies of those programs willing to share them with the university should contact Whitehead at
