Esdeina Gonzalez, a 2014 Northwestern State soccer signee, was named as the Most Valuable Player of the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches all-star game June 21.

The midfielder helped the North team to a 3-2 win in the game held Belton High School. Her team was coached by Donnie Bodron, her coach at Kingsville High School (Humble, Texas).

“We have been a big fan of Esdeina for the past couple of years,” said head coach George Van Linder. “She continues to rise and improve as a player at a great rate and this is a great award for her. We can’t wait to have her in the purple of NSU in just over six weeks.”

Gonzalez played on two undefeated district championships, and advanced to the playoffs every season she lettered. She was the team captain of Kingsville in her senior year.

The Lady Demon soccer team reports on Aug. 5 for preseason training. Gonzalez will be joined by 13 other newcomers that matchup with 12 returners.
