The Northwestern State volleyball program will host its biannual Demon Digfest Aug. 2-3 at the Point Place Marina on Cane River Lake.

The four-on-four sand volleyball tournament serves as the largest fundraiser for NSU volleyball assisting the program with the summer scholarship fund, team travel, locker room renovation and other program projects.

“It’s starting to become part of the summer schedule for the community which has been our goal since we arrived,” fifth-year head coach Hugh Hernesman said. “There’s live music, free food and it has a really cool atmosphere.”

Entry is $100 per team and each team can have up to six players with four playing at a time. One female must be present on the court at all times and all teams are guaranteed at least three matches throughout the day.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available including the level two giveaways sponsor ($300) and level one banner sponsor ($150). Both sponsorships include a custom company courtside banner with the level two including the company’s logo being printed on promotional materials.

A level three title sponsorship is also available for $750 and includes a custom courtside banner, promotional printed items that will be distributed throughout the community in addition to obtaining the title for the Digfest.

Each participant will receive an award for entering and the top two teams will earn NSU merchandise. Team SWAT walked away with the championship after defeating Blue Cove at the April Digfest.

“It gives us a chance to have our players connect with people in the community,” Hernesman said. “They’ll play on a team or are around the event. The people that follow us get the chance to interact with our players and see them in a less formal setting.”
