Northwestern State University’s 64th Demon Battalion is hosting this year’s Demon Battalion Ball on Saturday, March 15.

An annual tradition, the 64th Demon Battalion Ball is a celebration between each of the generations of cadets within the Demon Regiment.

This year’s guest speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel Sean Huggins.  A 1995 graduate from Northwestern State University, Lt. Col. Huggins is a decorated aviation officer and recently took command of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion in Houston.

“The more things change, the more things still stay the same,” explained Lieutenant Colonel William Underwood, professor of military science.  “Those in attendance will be able to see through multiple phases how the key characteristics of a good leader have remained true throughout history.”

Although it is a significant occasion for all who attend, Lt. Col. Underwood said he has emphasized the importance of the Demon Battalion Ball to his Military Science Level IV cadets, who are preparing to graduate and commission this year.

“The 64 years of ROTC here at NSU can’t be overstated,” he said.  Lt. Col. Underwood hopes his cadets recognize the accomplishments made by those in attendance that have come before them and wants his cadets to understand how they are all a part of the rich history of the Demon Regiment.

The current cadets within the 64th Battalion coordinated with the Demon Regiment and worked diligently over the past months to provide a night filled with great food and fellowship. The event will take place in the Sylvan Friedman Student Union Ballroom beginning with a social hour at 5 p.m.      For more information, contact Elisa Smith at (318) 357-3157.
