Northwestern State University will host the sixth regional Conference on International Security/Internal Safety (IS/IS) from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 24 in the Sylvan Friedman Student Union.

Registration is free for students. Presenters and historians from Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University and University of Louisiana-Monroe will offer insight on topics that address border control issues and conflicts from colonial times to the 21st century, modern theory and policy on dealing with foreign and domestic terrorism and balancing security with civil liberties. Information will be presented in six sessions with a luncheon session at Merci Beaucoup restaurant from noon-1:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Northwestern State’s Department of Criminal Justice, History and Social Sciences, the Southern Studies Institute and the Society for Military History.
