Kim, who plays violin and viola, is director of the Global Artist Society, an organization that seeks to promote social justice and cultural understanding through music. A native of South Korea, Kim was winner of the 2006 Perrenoud Foundation International Music Competition in Vienna, Austria. That same year she made her New York debut under the auspices of Artist International Management. She is a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois.
Kim’s program will feature works by Faure, Bruch, Hindemith and the world premiere of IO/F-1 Movements 1-9 for Solo Viola by Dr. Mark Prince Lee. Northwestern State graduate student Alonso Saavedra Coles will serve as piano accompanist. Kim will provide a master class for members of the NSU Upper Strings Studio Thursday.
