Job description: As a Student Support Services counselor, I have the chance to work with low income, first generation, and disabled students providing them with free intensive, intrusive and effective academic and personal services to eliminate any barriers to their success while obtaining their college degree. Student Support Services provide students with the opportunity to grow in all aspects of their life. Some of the services provided are academic advising, confidential counseling, an academic study skills course, mentoring, sponsoring and enrichment workshops.
Why I like working at Northwestern State: Working at Northwestern provides me with the opportunity to live out my passion to assist individuals with attaining their utmost personal success while continuously working toward obtaining my own personal success. It’s important for each individual to strive for continuous growth as we stay on our journey in life. The services provided by Student Support Services gives the students the tools needed to do just that. Along with that comes a team of dedicated faculty and staff that haveassisted me with adjusting to my new job and that are readily available to assist students as well. I can’t imagine a better place to work at this point in my life.
