Title: Senior Woman Administrator/Head Academic Coordinator/Coordinator of Victorious For Life Program
Years at NSU: 3
Job description: As the senior woman administrator, I work very closely with all female student-athletes to ensure they receive everything they need, while also serving as an additional outlet to talk to. In addition, I serve as the advisor for our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. As head academic coordinator, I oversee all of the academics for the 14 sports at NSU with the help of my assistant. This includes checking for NCAA eligibility, compiling information for the Academic Progress Rate and Graduation Success Rate, running an in-house tutoring program and maintaining the Johnnie Emmons Academic Study Center. I also run the Victorious For Life Program, which focuses on teaching our student-athletes about athletic and academic excellence, community service, personal development and career development. I coordinate all community service for the Athletics Department, hold workshops to teach student-athletes “life skills” and offer career assessments, resume sessions and mock interviews.
Why I like working at Northwestern State: Working at your alma mater is always a special thing. I can honestly say that I bleed purple and white. My favorite thing about NSU – as both a student-athlete and employee – is the family atmosphere that I get to be a part of. I love the opportunity to work with student-athletes every day and treat them as my own family.
