I serve as liaison between the Natchitoches and Shreveport campuses for Student Support Services, helping to ensure that we are in compliance with established Federal Guidelines. I serve as office manager, including purchasing office equipment and supplies and making travel arrangements. I prepare and monitor the budget, making revisions as needed. I provide training and supervision for student employees. I maintain staff and project student records. I compile statistical data and prepare reports, especially the annual performance report that is sent to the Department of Education, which determines that we are meeting the objectives established for our project and future funding criteria.
Why I like working at Northwestern State:
Student Support Services really has a student friendly/family atmosphere. The staff in SSS goes above and beyond to do everything they can to help students succeed. And it’s not just our department. I’ve seen it campus wide. Over the years there have been many students who have come through our office who were struggling in some area of their personal or academic careers, and I truly believe that the staff here made a difference in their successful outcomes. We’ve had and have some awesome students. I enjoy working with them and seeing their successes. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have worked at NSU for 29 years and will mark 30 years in January.
