Young at Heart of First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches held a program May 1. The Dethloff Circle of United Methodist Women provided spring decorations. Ethelene and Jim Reichel retired from over 20 years of helping prepare and serve meals to the Young at Heart group. They were presented with a cross and an arrangement of flowers. In addition, incoming fire chief Crit Miller and retiring chief Denny Boyt were presented with “Strength for Service,” a devotional book for public servants. Boyt spoke of his ten years of accomplishments, including writing grants for new fire engines, ladder boom truck and equipment that has reduced the City of Natchitoches’ insurance rating from a 3-4 to a 2. From left are Miller, Collier, Durr and Boyt. Young at Heart will not meet in June due to Vacation Bible School scheduled for the beginning of that month at First United Methodist Church.
