Sean D. Wester, a former Provencal resident, a 1985 graduate of Natchitoches Central High School and a 1990 graduate of Northwestern State University, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. Col. Wester has served as an Active Duty Marine officer for over 22 years.  He has been deployed globally throughout his career as a Field Artillery and Infantry Officer.  Within the last four years, he commanded the 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan, and Embedded Training Team 6-4 in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.  He currently serves as the Operations Division Chief, Current Operations for the U.S. Northern Command in Colorado Springs, Colo.  From left are Col. Wester’s wife Alana, Col. Wester and their sons Eli and Jackson. Col. Wester is the son of Joy Wester of Many and Billy Wester of Provencal.  He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Ward of Lotus and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wester of Provencal.
