First United Methodist Church members braved the dire predictions and gathered Friday, Dec. 21 for food, fellowship and fun. Despite rumors of the Mayan calendar and the end of the world, guests remained calm as they nibbled on refreshments and played games. Rev. Doug de Graffenried reminded congregants that no one knew when the world would end. Jesus preached a lifestyle of love, understanding and acceptance. The New Testament records his time serving and socializing with all segments of society. Partygoers emulated this path by sharing bread, drink, prayer and thanks. The Young-at-Heart group of First United Methodist Church met Dec. 5 for a luncheon and program. Iris Gueringer was a first time visitor.
