SWEPCO Manager of External Affairs Randy Peeples presented a $1,000 check to Council on Aging Director Alice Barrios Aug. 3. Barrios will use the money to buy fans for elderly clients who cannot afford to buy them. At right is COA board president John Lynch. “We know a lot of elderly don’t have air-conditioning and the heat can be dangerous,” Peeples said. “We are happy to continue to support the COA in their effort to buy fans.” Barrios acknowledged the efforts of Bill Vance and Elite Broadcasting and Sandy Dunn and KZBL for their help in getting fans donating. COA has already distributed approximately 200 fans. Clients must be 60 and older and meet other criteria to be eligible.
