Rockabilly King Al Ferrier was still rocking Oct. 5 when he played at the Hemsby Rockabilly Festival in England. He played 10 numbers including his biggest hit, “Let’s Go Boppin’.” At right are Ferrier and his son, Steven who accompanied him on the trip. They several cities and stopped in front of one of the oldest churches in England at right. Ferrier frequently plays in Europe and appeared on the Louisiana Hayride with Elvis Presley and Jonny Cash.

Dancers from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts were among 100 dancers to perform at halftime of the Louisiana Tech vs. Texas A & M football game Oct. 13 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport. Directed by Carol Smitherman Anglin of Shreveport, the dancers performed three jazz routines to a crowd of 40,000. Along with LSMSA, groups represented include dancers from the Carol Anglin Dancenter and Evangel Christian Academy’s Wings.  In all, 20 communities and 10 parishes were represented during the event, which was televised on ESPN-U. Anglin teaches dance classes at LSMSA in addition to owning her own Shreveport dance studio.
