Lisa Wiggins spoke at the monthly meeting of the Master Gardener Association at the Arts Center. Wiggins, who is the librarian at NSU Elem. Lab School, described the garden that her students developed during the last five years. There are 12 classes with 300 students participating in the research, preparation, plant maintenance and harvesting produce from the school’s garden. Wiggins uses the garden to teach students about the possibility of growing their own food and the importance of healthy eating.

Former LSMSA student Mallory Fuller achieved Dean’s List at Vanderbilt University, for the spring 2012 and fall 2011 semesters. U.S. News & World Report ranks Vanderbilt University 17th best university in the nation. Fuller began studies at Vanderbilt, Nashville in the fall 2009. In spring of 2011, she transferred to Vanderbilt France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. While studying in France, Fuller wrote an essay that resulted in an invitation to intern at the Fondation St. John Perse, which she completed the following year. Dr. Rodney Allen, Dr. Mark Van Rhyn, Dr. Elizabeth Hall, Randy Allen, and Laurie Richard groomed Fuller, a 2009 graduate of Louisiana School for Math, Science, and Arts for collegiate success. Fuller is the daughter of Lisa Cote’, the grand- daughter of Bill and Mozelle Rutledge as well as the late Harry P. Cote’. She is the niece of David Rodriguez, Mignona Cote’ and Renee’ Cote’.
