CommCare Corporation, a non-profit company operating throughout Louisiana, announces that Maria Mapa, the former director of nursing, is now administrator, and Annette Walker, previous case manager, is director of nursing. Mapa has worked for the center for 18 years. She was director of nursing for the past 10 years and has been a licensed administrator since 2007. Walker transitioned from the Natchitoches Parish Hospital labor and delivery unit to manage the Skilled Nursing Program of Natchitoches Community Care Center. She recently received her certification as a Long Term Care Nurse. The Natchitoches Animal Shelter will have a Howl-o-ween Pet Parade and costume contest Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. There is a five dollar registration fee and a form that participants may pick up at the Animal Control Office or fill out the day of the event. The animals will compete for first, second and third place in a “Canine Cutie” competition and for top places in “Ugly Mug” and “Best Dressed” contests. Halloween treats will be provided for the public.
