The Lakeview High School team placed first in the La. State FFA forestry contest Nov. 1. From left are team members Aaron Babers, Gage Whatley, Brandon Powell and Robert Giddings. The forestry contest has seven practicums. They are timber stand improvement, saw log estimation, pulpwood estimation, tree identification, compass/pacing, map reading and a written exam. This is the first time in the history of competing in the forestry career development event that Lakeview has won first place. As a result, this team will represent Louisiana in both the Southern Regional Forestry contest held in May in Oklahoma and the National FFA Forestry contest held next October in Louisville Kentucky.  The advisor is Eric Smith.
