VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Following a fast start Sunday night with a 105-40 exhibition victory just hours after completing the trip from Louisiana to some of the most spectacular countryside in Canada, the Northwestern State basketball team enjoyed touring parts of British Columbia Monday and prepared to play Vancouver Island University Tuesday evening.

The Demons will play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before an early morning departure for the flight back home on Friday.

They made a smashing debut north of the border Sunday night, racing to a 31-9 first-quarter lead while posting a 105-40 victory over Quest University.

Senior guard Shamir Davis led six Demons with double-digit scoring, posting 17 points and four assists, while redshirt freshman guard Jalan West contributed 11 points and a game-high 11 assists.

True freshmen twins Austin and Dustin Adams were identical in their production with 10 points and six rebounds apiece.

Senior forward Gary Roberson scored 11 points. So did sophomore center Marvin Frazier, who added three blocked shots.

Connor Heinrichs paced the home team with 12 points. NSU lead 53-19 at halftime and 78-30 through three 10-minute quarters as the teams played under international rules.

The Demons had 30 assists.

The squad toured Vancouver Monday, and then relocated to Victoria Island where the Demons will headquarter until Thursday.

Tuesday’s game tips at 8 p.m. CST, 6 p.m. local time.
