Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer classes in water aerobics, line dancing and basic ceramics in September.

Water aerobics will be taught Sept. 3-28 and Oct. 1-31. The class will be taught from 11 a.m. until noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday at the Robert Wilson Recreation Complex pool. The fee is $35 per session.

Water aerobics is a workout that consists of simple low-impact exercises executed in the water.  The program is designed to promote and maintain cardio-respiratory fitness, strengthen muscles and improve flexibility.  The program is especially recommended for arthritic and/or pregnant women.

Smokin’ Hot Line Dance will be presented on Wednesday evenings from Sept. 5- Oct. 3 in Room 127 of the Health and Human Performance Building. The fee is $65.

The class will teach line dancing in styles beyond country/western including modern, swing, waltz, nightclub and Latin.

Beginning Ceramics will be offered on Thursday evenings from Sept. 13-Nov. 1. The class will be taught from 6-8 p.m. in Room 112 of the Fine Arts Annex. The fee is $125 plus a $20 material fee paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

This course is an introduction to working with clay. The student will learn hand-building and sculptural techniques, as well as work on the potter’s wheel. Intermediate and advanced ceramics students can also take the class and use the ceramics facilities.
