Belly Dance – Level I will begin Thursday, Oct. 4. The class will be held at the NSU Wellness, Recreation and Activity Center on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:45 p.m. through Nov. 8. The fee for the class is $65. This course will introduce Tribal Fusion Belly Dance.
This type of belly dance is a combination of several dance styles and will incorporate different styles of music. Basic steps, basic combinations, improvisation and a choreographed dance will be covered in the six weeks. No dance experience is necessary.
Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement is set for Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Learning Center for Rapides Parish at 1410 Neel Kearby Blvd. in Alexandria.
The fee for the class is $55. This course is for those who are nearing retirement, already retired or beginning to develop a retirement plan.
The class will cover concepts and strategies that may help you make appropriate choices when confronted by investment alternatives, insurance coverage, increasing health care costs, tax reduction methods and proper disposition of your estate at death.
Scrapbooking Made Easy will be taught Oct. 8, 15 and 22 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. in Room 132-B of Dodd Hall. The fee is $30 per session or $80 for all three sessions plus a material fee of $10 per session or $25 for all three sessions.
Participants will learn how to create simple mini-books using paper bags and envelopes. Those in the class will create a different mini-book in each session with any theme you choose.
Basic Floral Design will be offered on Oct. 13, 20 and 27 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Master’s Bouquet at 108 South Drive in Natchitoches. The fee is $200 plus a $100 supply fee. This class is designed for the floral designer who wants to expand their basic knowledge by learning more about corsage work and asymmetrical and symmetrical floral design pieces.
Those who would like to enter the floral industry as a designer assistant, expand you’re their knowledge of floral design or just want to arrange flowers at home would benefit from the class. Basic Floral Design I is suggested before enrollment in this class but not required.
