The new page, “Memories from the Hill,” recalls special events and traditions of life in Natchitoches and Northwestern State. “Memories from the Hill” presents the recollections of alumni and friends about our collective past. Ranging from a look back at past Homecomings to the reminiscences of alumni, the page records those moments that made NSU more than an alma mater to members of the Northwestern State family. The site has photos from the 1951 Homecoming parade along with a collection of postcards from the institution’s early history. One of the postcards is from an early Natchitoches Christmas Festival.
“The photographs and reminiscences in this collection will be something everyone associated with Northwestern will enjoy seeing,” said Tommy Whitehead, professor emeritus of journalism, who helped develop the site. “So many of the events will be just as familiar to an alumnus from the 1950s as a current student.”
The address will be: traditions.nsula.edu/collections/memories-from-the-hill. Alumni and friends with memories to add to site can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to provide photographs and recollections.
