Lee finished the game with 21 and Upchurch had 19 points to run NSU’s record to 10-15 overall and 6-9 in SLC action. Jasmine Bradley added 16 points to the effort along with JaJessica Jammer was Corpus Christi’s (3-22, 2-12 SLC) only player in double-figures with 16 points.
The Lady Demons hit 50 percent of their shots for the game, including a 6-for-8 mark from behind the 3-point line. NSU scored 41 points in the first half alone on 15-of-26 shooting for 58 percent.
Northwestern State finished the game with 13 turnovers, including only five turnovers in the first half. The Lady Demons forced the Islanders into 21 turnovers and were able to score 22 points from the miscues.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi jumped out to a five point lead at the 17:32 mark in the first half, but NSU worked its way back to take the lead with 15:`17 to play in the opening half. The Lady Demons would not give up the lead again.
By halftime, NSU built a 12 point lead, and that swelled to the largest lead of the day at 16 by the 13:23 in the second half. Sixteen points is the largest lead NSU has held this season.
Jasmine Bradley led the team in assists and rebounds with six apiece.
Northwestern State will take a break from conference play on Saturday when they take on New Orleans at noon in Prather Coliseum.
