"We had some very good tennis (Friday) in Fayetteville against some national-caliber competition," said Lady Demon coach Patric DuBois. "We competed well at all positions and had some good wins, and we learned from our losses. We expect to play well again tomorrow."
Northwestern State's Natalya Krutova posted a singles win over Arkansas' Kristin Mee and narrowly missed a doubles victory teamed with Daniela Simonova Sunday on the final day of the Razorback Classic women's tennis tournament.
After Krutova rolled to a 6-0 first-set win, Mee retired. In doubles play, Krutova/Simonova fell 8-7 (5) to Flavia Araujo of Arkansas and Carol Benito of Tulsa, after losing an 8-6 decision to them a day earlier.
Konop and Tatiana Larina were beaten 8-4 by Alyssa Hibbert and Wegner of Memphis. Hibberd had edged Konop in a three-set singles battle Saturday.
Larina retired after dropping the first set of her singles match Sunday 6-1 to Maria Sant'Anna of Tulsa. Sinomova fell 6-2, 6-1 to Marta Morga of Memphis.
