The new "Merci Beaucoup Courtside Seats" headline several enhancements at 2013-14 Northwestern State basketball games that will be unveiled at the season opener on next Friday, Nov. 8 in Prather Coliseum.

"We're always looking to improve the fan experience at all our home athletic events, and we are confident we've done that for our upcoming basketball season," said Adam Jonson, NSU's associate athletic director. "We want people telling others about our events, and providing top-notch customer service and a high level of energy makes that happen. We start knowing our teams will generate a ton of excitement with their performances, and we build around that."

The Demons, coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance after leading the nation in scoring during the regular season, are the consensus preseason pick to win the Southland Conference men's championship. The Lady Demons far exceeded expectations in 2012-13 under first-year co-head coaches Brooke and Scott Stoehr, posting homecourt wins over the two eventual league co-champions and four of the top five teams in the league standings, and will have a deep and highly-regarded recruiting class making its debut.

The teams tip their seasons with a doubleheader at Prather Coliseum on Nov. 8, beginning with the women's contest at 5:30 against Southern Arkansas followed by a men's contest against LeTourneau slated for a 7:30 start.

Adding to recent renovations and upgrades in Prather Coliseum, the floor seating lining the sideline opposite the team benches now features heavily padded chairs, much like that of NBA arenas, and Merci Beaucoup Restaurant has joined as the title sponsor of the area. Already sold out, ticket holders in this area will have access to personal service, which will include servers for food and beverages and exclusive offers.

"With a long-standing relationship to the basketball programs at NSU, this partnership makes for a great fit," said Johnny Cox, owner of Merci Beaucoup Restaurant. "NSU is a great brand with which to be associated, and we are thrilled to be a part of the great things happening on campus."

All fans will enjoy revamped gameday items such as a customer service kiosk located in the main lobby of Prather Coliseum, the ability to use credit/debit cards to purchase tickets, enhanced gameday programs (which will be sold for $1) and exciting new promotional prize opportunities.

As always, all NSU students can gain admission with nothing more than a valid student ID card. At any main entrance, a student's card can be swiped with points accumulating for NSU's student loyalty program Demon Rewards, which affords students various levels of prizes based on event attendance.

Season tickets for the 26-game men's and women's home slate begin at $85 for general admission and $100 for reserved mid-court seating. With availability remaining, VIP lower-level seats can be purchased for $350 each with $225 being a tax-deductible contribution to the NSU Athletic Association. "Merci Beaucoup Courtside" seats sell for $500 a piece with $350 going to the NSU Athletic Association.

Merci Beaucoup restaurant will also serve as host to the 2013-14 "Sixth Man Club" luncheons, featuring messages from NSU head basketball coaches Mike McConathy (men) and Brooke Stoehr (women). Eight dates are scheduled for the season, beginning on Friday, November 8. Luncheons will also be held on December 11, January 3, January 16, January 30, February 5, February 12 and March 5.
