Students in the Community/Public Health class in the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health at Northwestern State University’s Shreveport campus held a debate this week on several health related topics.

The debate covered the issues of end of life care, legalization of marijuana at the federal level, healthcare for undocumented immigrants, physician assisted suicide/euthanasia, and mandated coverage of contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act.

A panel of six faculties judged the debate. The winning team was Tiffany Tyson of Haughton, Sami Wilkey of Shreveport and Sylvia Bardin and Lauren Sullivan of Many.

The opposing team was Evelyn Green and Hannah Butler of Bossier City, Jennifer Beasley of Long Island, N.Y., and Whitney Jackson of Mansfield.
