The always-popular events provide fans with a meal between games and gives winning cooks bragging rights for a year, along with prizes.
Contestants in the Jan. 30 Chili Cook-Off will be asked to prepare enough chili to serve 50 fans, who will be able to enjoy the range of recipes between the Lady Demons’ and Demons’ games against Incarnate Word. The following Thursday, gumbo is on the menu for the NSU-McNeese doubleheader at Prather Coliseum.
Entry fee for one contest is $50 per cooking team, with a $75 combined fee for both contests. NSU Athletics will provide tables, chairs, bowls, napkins and spoons along with electricity in the concourse of Prather Coliseum. Each team will receive two free T-shirts.
Prizes include passes to the VIP Box Suites for any 2014 Demon football game, softball Outfield Club passes, and baseball season tickets. The baseball package includes the right to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the NSU-Southern game. The champion team will receive the coveted Chili Cook-Off Paddle and a basketball autographed by the Demon team.
