Hornist Brent Shires and pianist Terrie Shires of the University of Central Arkansas will perform at Northwestern State University Monday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. The concert is free. The public may attend.

Brent Shires teaches horn, music theory and brass pedagogy classes at Central Arkansas. He is also the brass chamber music coordinator and performs with the faculty quintet Pinnacle Brass. Shires holds positions with the Arkansas Symphony, Conway Symphony and Pine Bluff Symphony. He serves on the faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Dixie Band Camp in the summer and performs frequently at the Arkansas Repertory Theater. Since 2002, he has served as the International Horn Symposium regional workshop coordinator and Arkansas area representative. Brent Shires earned a doctorate in horn performance and literature from the University of Illinois.

Terrie Shires teaches class piano and serves as a faculty accompanist at UCA. As the UCA Horn Studio accompanist, she works with students as well as visiting artists. Terrie Shires was recently selected to serve as an official accompanist for the 45th International Horn Symposium and the International Horn Competition of America. She also works as a choir accompanist at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in the summers and has played keyboard for the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Terrie Shires earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Hanover College and her MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Northern Illinois University.
