The process to appoint a search committee to find a new Northwestern State president is underway according to Jackie Tisdell, assistant vice president of communications for the University of Louisiana System.

Tisdell said Tuesday that she expects the serch committee will be appointed in “the next week or so.” Tisdell said the process is still in the development stage.

The chairman of the system, Dr. Sandra Woodley, will appoint the committee that will include a member of the System board of Supervisors, student member who is an SGA president and an NSU faculty member; Woodley, who is a non-voting member; and an advisory, non-voting member who could be from the community or alumni. When the committee is appointed, it will determine the time line for the search, interviews, etc.

The committee will have a public forum at NSU. ”It’s likely the committee will be on campus early,” Tisdell said.

The committee will conduct a national search by advertising and may engage a consulting firm. Once the deadline for applications is reached, the committee will conduct interviews on campus and will chose semifinalists.

The next step will be to present the semi-finalists to the University System’s board in Baton Rouge for the final selection.

Tisdell said all meetings are public and the process is inclusive of the public.

The System will establish a website with details of the search.

There will be notification of meetings and an email address to receive comments.

“There will be a lot of support for feedback and we expect comments,” Tisdell said.

NSU President Randall Webb announced last week that he plans to retire but will remain in place until his successor is chosen.
