Northwestern State’s Chris Curry, who served as the Demon baseball pitching coach for the past two seasons, accepted the head coaching position at Arkansas-Little Rock, the UALR athletic department announced Tuesday afternoon.

“We are very happy for Chris and his family, and it is a great opportunity for them,” said Demon head coach Lane Burroughs. “He did a great job for us, and helped us turn around the Demon program.”

In Curry’s second season at NSU, he helped the Demons to 33 wins for the first time since the 2010 season. The Little Rock, Ark., native also helped Northwestern State to the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament, also a first since 2010.

NSU’s wins, a 17-game improvement over 2012, tied a school record for a turnaround from the previous season, including a league record of 14 more wins in Southland Conference play.
