Ed Eagan has become the third Northwestern State player named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards Watch List, with the junior being tabbed as a repeat selection from 2013 as one of the top 40 kickoff returners at the Division I FCS level.

Eagan, a New Orleans-Holy Cross product, was recently named by league coaches to the Preseason Southland Conference Team as a return specialist. In two years, he has a career 23.5 average on kickoff returns, including an 82-yard touchdown as a freshman against Sam Houston State, and he has a 9.0 punt return average with a 50-yard TD last year against Langston.

He set single-season school records with 34 kickoff returns and 798 yards last fall. With 1,080 career kick return yards, he is just over halfway with two seasons remaining to topping the school record of 2,084 yards by Phillip Harvey from 2009-12.

Earlier this summer, Demon senior quarterback Zach Adkins and senior cornerback Imoan Claiborne were listed on the CFPA Watch List for their positions.

"Congratulations to Ed Eagan on joining Zach Adkins and Imoan Claiborne on this year's watch list," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Eagan will once again be one of the top kickoff returners to watch in the FCS this season."

Eagan is also a starting receiver for the Demons and had 46 catches, tops on the team and the fifth-best single-season total in school history, last year. His 585 yards receiving was second on last year’s team behind 2013 senior Louis Hollier.
