Home going services for Kristie Kay Dowden were July 3 at 2 p.m. at Kisatchie Baptist Church in Kisatchie with the Rev. Larry Vaughn, the Rev. Wayne Chance and the Rev. Ricky Robertson officiating. Interment followed at Kisatchie Cemetery in Kisatchie. Kristie Kay Dowden, or “K.K.”, as she was known, was born Sept. 4, 1974, to Donald Glenn Dowden and the late Nella Faye Babb Dowden in Natchitoches. She passed from this life at 42 years of age June 29, 2017. She was a wonderful person. Everything about her made you smile and she made you feel just a little bit better every time you were around her. She was a person of strict ritual, every day following the same routine, but this is where she found comfort, as she hated change. She loved people, she loved to laugh, she gave the best hugs and back rubs and she lived for Jesus with all of her heart. Everything she liked was “her favorite.” She would always introduce herself to anyone she met; she never met a stranger. Kristie enjoyed the finer qualities of life that we often overlook, and she brought the best out in people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nella Faye Babb Dowden; and her sister and brother-in-law, Lynne Dowden Weaver and Randy Weaver. She is survived by her father, Donald Glenn Dowden of Kisatchie; brother, Don Wade Dowden and wife Elizabeth of Kisatchie; sisters, Joy Fay Dowden Cockrum of Natchitoches, Donna Dowden Hernandez and husband Jerry of Natchitoches and Mary Dowden Yocum of Powhatan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
