Young at Heart met at First United Methodist Church Wednesday, Aug. 2 for a program by the Council on Aging of chair aerobics and Tai Chi. Alice Barrios introduced her program coordinator Linda Turner, who told of the programs at the new Natchitoches Parish Council on Aging facilities on Keyser Avenue. Roberta Garner leads the chair aerobics and demonstrated exercises with balls and weights and Avila Kahey demonstrated Tai Chi moves. Recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs opened an office in the building. Food is supplied to Meals on Wheels clients, as well as a second Tuesday 8 a.m. breakfast. Celebrating their birthdays at the meeting were pictured above, from left, Scottie Dawson, Joyce Baird, Linda Turner, Juanita Howell and Coach Dean Johnson.

Before the meal, Ethelene Bright and her daughters had a drawing for a chance to take home a pot plant center piece decoration of ivy and butterflies, provided by the Dethloff circle of women of the church. John and Donna Brewer, above, celebrated their anniversary at the meeting.
