Her children and grandchildren hosted a birthday Saturday to honor Mary Brister who turned 80. It was at Harmony Baptist Church. More than 50 people attended. Her family, church family and friends enjoyed the day.
Some of her friends from Natchitoches included Ron and Leta Brown, Jackie Cox, Pat Parker and Elaine Smith. They enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and dips and the birthday cake with a picture of Mary on it. Dottie Gill told Mary to give her a party 12 years from now.
Connie Matkin went with her daughter, Brittany Grace, to the Hineston Rodeo Saturday where Brittany Grace competed in Barrel for Hope. She and JJ placed first in their division. She also competed in pole bending with Yellowman and had a great run but didn’t place.

The Ballard Family had a wonderful day at their family reunion in Provencal Saturday. Seventy-five members went to celebrate, from the young, to the not so young. The family wants to thank all those who helped make this reunion a success including those who did the table setting, cooking, grilling, music, clean up, sweet smiles, hugs and laughter.
A special thanks to Mayor Randy Dupree and his wife, Rhonda, and to the staff of Provencal School, including Principal Mary Yount and Coach DeWayne Poe. Once again
the family would like to thank Cyndi Ballard Congre and her daughter, Ashley, for the many hours spent planning, decorating and researching history. Everyone is looking forward to Ballard Family Reunion, 2019.
