First Baptist Church of Provencal will host a dedication service of the new sanctuary Sunday, Aug. 6. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. and worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. The service will be followed by a dinner on the grounds. Members have been asked to bring a covered dish. The church will supply the cake and ice cream. The community is invited to this service to enjoy the new sanctuary. Robeline First Baptist Church will host a fundraiser in Provencal on Aug. 5 to offset the medical expenses of Abram Smith, son of Luke and Crystal Smith. Events will be throughout the day. There will be a corn hole tournament at 8 a.m. The tournament is double-elimination and prizes will be awarded for first through third places. The entry fee is $40 per team.
There will also be a free throw competition, a 3-point competition and a granny shot competition. A half- -court, 3 on 3 tournament will also start at 8 a.m. These games are double elimination and the entry fee is $30. Prizes will be awarded to the first place team and the entry fee is $30.
Split-the-pot tickets will be sold throughout the day and the drawing will be at the end of the day. Silent auction items will be on display as will be a Char-Broil Gas Smoker raffle item. Organizers continue to seek donations to offset the costs of the fundraiser and need the following items: four large cans of nacho cheese, two large cans of chili, two cases of nacho chips, three boxes of popsicles, five cases of water, three 12-packs of Cokes, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper and Sprite, Gatorades, four bags of Frito chips, 10 packs of hamburger buns, a bucket of ring pops, 10 donations of $20 for burgers and fries, three packs of sliced cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup.
