WILDA MARIE MCCOLLOUGH BRIDGES

197

Graveside service for Wilda Marie McCollough Bridges was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Memory Lawn Cemetery of Natchitoches with Buster Johnson officiating.

Wilda Bridges passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, in Natchitoches surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1926, in Fullerton to Owen Samuel McCollough and Gertrude Jones McCollough.

Upon graduation from Mt. Carmel High School and is a member of the greatest generation this country has ever seen, Wilda and her family moved to Washington State and worked for Boeing Aircraft Company, to contribute to the war effort. She was very proud of the service she provided to her country. Over the course of her life, she worked many places like Nichols Dry Goods, but no job was more important to her than the care of her family. Wilda was a member of the Eastern Star and attended First Presbyterian Church of Natchitoches. She will forever be in our hearts and we take comfort in knowing she is in heaven with her savior, Jesus Christ.

On Sunday morning she was reunited with her husband, Herman Edward Bridges; son, Jim Edward Bridges; parents, Owen Samuel and Gertrude Jones McCollough; and brother, Owen Samuel McCollough Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Kathryn Shutt of Lewisville, Texas; sons, Alan Douglas Bridges and wife Cindy of Jumping Branch, WV, and Michael Lloyd Bridges and wife Tina of Natchitoches; sister, Wanda Hilton of Natchitoches; daughter-in-law, Judy Bridges of Fort Wayne, Ind., 13 grandchildren, Wendi Shutt Fling, Eric Shutt (Stephanie), Christopher Bridges (Kelly), Lesley Bridges LaRose (Eric), Erin Bridges Smith (Nick), Jennifer Bridges Mura (Mark), Stephen Bridges (Dewana), Julie Bridges Lamarche (Justin), Jeffrey Bridges, Stacey Bridges, Ben Bridges (Ryan), Alexis Bridges Teichman (Fielding), and Audrey Bridges Herndon (Joe); as well as 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews (who she loved like her own grandchildren).

The family wishes to send their deepest appreciation to Linda Eli and Marie Westmoreland for their tireless care, compassion and friendship to Wilda during such a difficult time; as well as to the staff of Hospice of Natchitoches and Dr. Kautz and staff.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Eric Shutt, Christopher Bridges, Jeffrey Bridges, Ben Bridges, Caleb Bridges and Nick Smith.

In lieu of floral contributions, please make a donation in Wilda’s name to Hospice of Natchitoches, 340 2nd St, Natchitoches, LA 71457.
