Gary Cathey spoke to the Walter Ledet coffee club Monday about the up coming Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches 63rd Annual Fall Pilgrimage.

The annual Tour of Homes will include some 15 historic homes over the three-day event, Oct. 13-15.

Theme for this year’s tour will feature the underground cellars and tunnels located in the National Historic Landmark District. The cellars were used for wine and root cellars.

Saturday’s event will include six speakers covering the underground use, architecture and railroad.

Kathy, tour chairman, emphasized the tour was important to the APHN for it helped finance the annual operation of Melrose Plantation. The Melrose Arts and Crafts Show and the fall tour provide most of the funding for the historic plantation, which is a major tourist attraction the Natchitoches area.

Other events during the weekend include the Wings Over Natchitoches Air Show and the St. Augustine Catholic Church Fair.
