We sure have had a lot of rain lately. The cooler mornings are great but it still gets hot during the day. It’s hard to predict the weather in our part of the country. The flowers are enjoying all this rain.

The Mark Trammel Group was at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Minden Aug. 19.

Rose Johnson, Donald Choate and I attended the Legacy Five concert at Calvin Baptist Church Aug. 12. They really put on a great concert. They had a 19-year-old piano player who could really play the piano. We ran into a heavy rain on the way but it was well worth it to hear those good old gospel songs.

The fourth Friday fish fry at Clara Springs will be Aug. 25.

August birthdays include Laverne Davis Aug. 17, Merle Babers Aug. 20 and Jeannie Grisham Aug. 21.

Anniversaries include Trey and Jessica Etheridge Aug. 3, Merle and Linda Babers Aug. 21 and Robert and Carol Morgan Aug. 30.

There are many who need prayers, calls and visits. They include Jackie Speir in Willis Knighton Pierremont, Room 8814 and Jan Speir in the Courtyard in Natchitoches at 708 Keyser Ave.

Margie Dobson is at Forrest Haven at 171 Thrasher Dr. in Jonesboro, 71215.

Gerald Hatcher is also at the Courtyard.

Also needing prayers are Glennie Taylor, Ruby Hatcher, Rita Fenn, Linda Babers, Ralph Mason, Laverne Davis, Gail Hawkins, Jessica Etheridge and Shane Hawkins.

Briarwood Baptist Church will present Miles Pike in concert at the church Sunday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. Miles present a very good concert.

Five of his radio releases have gone to #1 on the Cashbox Magazine and Christian Voice Country Gospel Chart. He won the “Male Horizon” award at the Country Gospel Music Fan Awards and dozens of Top Five nominations. He will share the gospel through song and word with vocals, testimonies, humor and a worshipful attitude. Call the church at (318)576-3525.

The children are returning to school so be on the lookout for school buses and be aware of school zones.

You really have to be careful going to Saline on Hwy. 9. That 25 MPH speed limit is enforced.
