L.P. Vaughn School of Fine Arts will host dinner theatre

The L.P. Vaughn School of Fine Arts and the L.P. Vaughn Elementary School will host a dinner theater Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the school office at 1500 Gold Street and from select teachers. Tickets are $25 a person or $35 for a couple.

The speaker will be Dr. King David Godwin, the dean of the Grambling State Theater and Performing Arts of Grambling State University. He will bring students from the university to perform.

In addition to the dinner theater, the School of Fine Arts is securing sponsorships from businesses and corporations in the community. Gold Sponsorships are $5,000, Silver $1,000 and Bronze $200.

The School of Fine Arts is in its fourth year as an after-school program. Students receive a $150 scholarship while paying $30 for 10 weeks of lessons. Scholarships are available for all Natchitoches Parish public schools students. Registration begins Nov. 13 for L.P. Vaughn students and Dec. 4 for other public schools.

Music teacher Danny Von Kanel the director of the School of Fine Arts. Kristie Irchirl is the principal of L.P. Vaughn Elementary and Dale Skinner is the Superintendent of Natchitoches Parish Public Schools of which L.P. Vaughn is a member school.
