If you want something done right, do it yourself. This is the motto Suzanne Shoemaker went by when she took it upon herself to liven up her workplace.
Shoemaker, a custodian at the U.S. Post Office on St. Denis, was a clerk for eight years before becoming custodian in March 2015. After taking the position, she decided it was time for a change. “Before, it was really bleak,” said Shoemaker. “I just really love flowers and I love to see them bloom.”
With help from customers, Shoemaker has been planting several types of foliage and flowers in front of the Post Office for two years. Now, whenever you stop by the Post Office, you can stop, smell the flowers and appreciate the beauty outside, thanks to Shoemaker.
